MYC Program The Music for Young Children (MYC) is a researched-based music program seperated into appropriate age groups. It has the goal of creating the happy habit of learning music. Games, stories, keyboard and rhythm ensembles, and singing are used to introduce the many aspects of music to students. Parents must participate to assist their children in the classes and so are well-prepared to help with home practicing. The class is fun, energetic and interactive!
DURATION Lessons are once a week to do a different fun music activities from keyboard, singing, rhythm, ear-training, sight reading, music theory to composition. There are 32 lessons and 2 concerts per year and the classes run from September through June, stat holidays and winter/spring break following the school calendar.
Location: Dunbar Area in Westside Vancouver
Sunshine & Sunbeam classes are 60min. per week.
Group Music – Sunbeam Level 1 (beginner ages 5-6yrs) - Mondays 3:30 pm
Group Music – Sunshine Level 1 (beginner ages 3.5-4) – Mondays 4:30 pm
It has opportunities for large gross muscle movement experience in steady beat and various rhythms; finger plays and singing songs delight the young child; pre-reading experiences involve sorting alike and different and looking for patterns with many colorful visual aids. Games, stuffed critters, singing, keyboard time, creative movement are part of the program for the child. Group meets weekly for 30 minutes. Parent participation is required. Extra cost for books and materials, non-refundable. Maximum 5 students per group.
