Optional Music Selections

Before the ceremony, you may choose a particular selection for the seating of the mothers and grandparents.  This is usually a request that is a favourite of those being seated.

  • Attendant's (Wedding Party) entrance
  • Bridal's entrance

Attendant's (Wedding party) entrance

(After the last parent is seated, usually bride’s mother, then attendants enter.) Begins when the attendants and the groom approach the altar.  The bridesmaids, flower boy and girl, and sometimes main of Honour (along with the groomsmen who may join them) continue to walk to this selection.  A piece played at an easy walking pace is chosen, usually more formal than the seating of the parents. For non-traditional weddings or smaller wedding parties, this selection need not have a majestic sound, but should retain an easy walking beat.  This piece ends when all attendants reaches the altar.

  • A Thousand Years (Christina Perri)
  • 愛很簡單  (David Tao)

The Bride's/Bridesmaids Entrance to the Processional

The most important part of the procession is the bride’s entrance! Traditionally, the bride enters to music that announces her grand arrival (e.g. "Here Comes The Bride!").  Again, for non-traditional or small weddings other music may be chosen as bride’s preference but also with an easy walking pace.  This piece ends when the bride reaches the altar.  When there are no other bridesmaids, other than the maid of honor, the bride sometimes enter to the same piece of music as the maid of honor.

  • Canon in D (Pachelbel)
  • Beautiful in White (Westlife)
  • Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (Bach)
  • Wedding March (Wagner “Here Comes the Bride”)
  • Trumpet Voluntary (Clarke)
  • Air on the G String (Bach)

Ceremony
During the ceremony, you may wish to select 1-2 special pieces. This may be performed during the lighting of your unity candle,or a meditative piece after a prayer.  These selections should hold special significance to the bride and groom, as all guests are actively listening.  For shorter services, it is advice not to have additional readings and music added between ceremony activities as this will lengthen the ceremony.

Some couples request music performed lightly as background during the entire ceremony or during the exchange of vows.  If you wish to do this, one piece is selected to be performed, and it is usually a melody that is meaningful to the couple.

  • The Prayer (Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli)

Recessional Music

This is right after the ceremony as the newly married couple walks back up the aisle, followed by the wedding party (attendants). In celebration of the newlyweds, a piece that is joyful and fast paced is played.
  • Wedding March (Mendelssohn)
  • 晴天 (Jay Chou)
  • Trumpet Tune (Purcell)
  • Any upbeat, joyful piece!

Post-Ceremony Music

Similar to the Recessional piece, lively selections played as guests file out.

*** Please Note:  Check with the officiate (minister, rabbi, priest, etc.) before making music selections.  Some faiths, houses of worship or officiates do not allow popular (non-religious) music or particular selections.  In addition, some will not permit music to be performed during the exchange of vows or as background for entire ceremony. ***
